Western red cedar is the gold standard for fencing in BC — naturally rot-resistant, dimensionally stable, and ages beautifully. We build privacy fences, semi-privacy, horizontal slat, board-on-board, and mixed-material designs. In most Lower Mainland municipalities, pergolas over 10 square metres (about 108 sq ft) or attached to your home require a building permit. Detached pergolas under that size are often exempt, but setback rules still apply. We check your local bylaws during the consultation and handle permit applications when required — no surprises mid-build.
A typical residential fence (50 to 80 linear feet) takes 2 to 4 days from post setting to final cap. Larger properties or complex designs with gates, mixed materials, or grade changes may take up to a week. Posts need 24 to 48 hours for concrete to cure before we hang rails and boards, so we plan around that in our scheduling.
